Fáilte! Welcome!

Missionaries of the Sacred Heart

Myross Wood Retreat House

Leap, Co. Cork

Staffed by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and situated in scenic West Cork, Myross Wood House nestles among 100 acres of mixed woodland and pastures flanked by streams, tidal rivers and the sea. It is a haven of peace and tranquillity, inviting you to come apart for a while to a quiet place and to discover the presence of God in your life. Our grounds and gardens are very beautiful. We hope you will also find something to interest you in our programme for 2014, which offers opportunities for reflection and prayer to laity, religious and clergy alike.

During the quieter months from September to Easter, many individuals and groups come to avail of our facilities, either for residential events, or just for a day or an evening. We welcome school children and young adults to enjoy an annual retreat or a day in preparation for special moments in their lives. We naturally have many contacts with the people in the surrounding area of West Cork. People come here to Mass every morning. They also come for meetings of parish groups or for the educational programmes of the diocese of Cork and Ross. People come from far and wide to take part in our published programmes or to enjoy a quiet time for thinking and sharing in the daily liturgy of the community.

We now publish our printed Brochure for 2014 on our website. In the events prepared for the summer period, from Easter to September, we have tried to address issues of interest in the spiritual life of people at this time. We regret to announce that after September 2014 we will no longer be in a position to offer a residential stay to people. Our residential retreats and activities will come to a end. So the Brochure for 2014 will be our last.

We have also given some information on the history of the house, which has had a long association with the Towshend family of Castletownshend. We also give you some useful information about our location.

We hope you will find something to entice you in our retreat programme for 2014. Please contact us if you are looking for a location for a group to stay in a beautiful part of the country. If you are on holiday in West Cork, please come and see us! For any queries regarding the Retreats on offer please contact the Director.
