Novena to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart

This novena normally takes place in the days leading up to the feast of the Nativity of Mary on 8th September. We celebrate it this year in the days leading up to the feast of the Immaculate Conception, 8th December, remembering the two young priests who made this novena ending on the same feastday, the foundation day of our "Little Society", the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, on 8th December 1854.

Advent Retreat

In preparation for Christmas, an afternoon of reflection and prayer will be held, with participation of the St Joseph's Young Priests' Society, the Legion of Mary, the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, and any others who wish to take part, on Sunday, 15th December, beginning at 2.30 pm. We will follow the usual format of a short talk, an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation, and Eucharist.

Our Christmas Programme is as follows:

Tuesday, 24th December, 9.00 p.m.

Christmas Eve Mass

Wednesday, 25th December, 10.00 a.m.

Christmas Day Mass

Feast of Mary, Holy Mother of God

The Community of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart wish you joy, peace and happiness

at Christmas and throughout the New Year

Youth Retreats

Retreats for young people at primary and secondary school level are facilitated here by a team of young people, called NET (New Evangelization Teams), and other faithful members of the surrounding parishes.

Days of Quiet Retreat

We offer the possibility to individuals and small family groups to enjoy a few days of quiet retreat and relaxation in our house and grounds.

The Liturgy

We celebrate the liturgy during the course of the year, in all the variety of the seasons. The Eucharist celebrated daily at 10.00 a.m. attracts a variety of people. We like to make the most of the liturgy, which is the great source of nourishment in the faith of the people of God. It helps them grow in their understanding and joyful commitment to God and to the world. They bring their own intentions, their own reasons for praying, and we invite them to take an active part in the daily and weekly liturgy, also giving special recognition to the mysteries that unfold during the course of the year.

Adult Education in the Faith

Scripture reading and sharing continues on Mondays at 7.30 p.m. We are studying the Gospel according to St. Luke this year.

Cultural and Recreational Activities

Various groups of people come together to further their interests, either on a regular way or on occasion. The GROW organization, which promotes the mental and emotional health of its members, meets here every Thursday night at 8.00. A Prayer Group, interested in practicing the John Main meditation method, meets on Monday night at 8.00. The Actively Retired Group of Castlehaven Parish, animated by a parish committee, holds a congenial meeting every second Thursday afternoon.
